How To Tell If You Can Use The iWalk 2.0

The iWalk 2.0 hands free crutch is a great alternative to using annoying crutches. This device allows you to safely stabilize your injured leg while retaining your movement ability.

Unlike crutches, the iWalk 2.0 gives you the ability to use your hands to keep balance and do your daily tasks. Something as simple as stocking a shelf or doing the dishes is near impossible on crutches. The best part about the iwalk 2.0 is how it lets you keep certain areas of your life normal while recovering from your injury.

In order for the iWalk 2.0 to work safely, you personally need to meet some requirements to make sure it’s a good fit for you. It’s easy to loose sight of the importance of devices like the iWalk 2.0. Remember the iWalk’s main goal is to keep you safe while recovering from an injury. Making sure the device fits you properly is a key part of this.

The first thing you can do tell if you’re qualified to use the iWalk is to look at your life before your injury. When you were fully healthy, were you able to go up or down stairs without assistance or using the handrail? Were you able to maneuver around your doing everyday tasks such as vacuuming, cleaning and other household tasks? If you were able to do these things before your injury, chances are the iwalk will be a good fit for you.

Age is a poor indicator of who can use the iwalk or not. Everyone is different and has different levels of strength. Make sure you make your own personal judgement on how strong you are and how well you are able to keep your balance. When you strap the iWalk to your leg, you have to be able to life the weight of the device while keeping your balance with each step. If you think this is too much physical work, then the iWalk 2.0 probably isn’t a good fit for you.

There are also a few obvious signs that the iwalk 2.0 won’t be for you. If you can’t bend your leg 90 degrees, if your injury is above your knee or if your knee itself is injured, then the iwalk won’t work for you. Also if you suffer from proprioception impairment you’ll be unable to use the iwalk safely.

Remember to Asses your own physical limitations when deciding if you should get the iWalk. If you’re motivated, under 6’6” tall and under 275 pounds, then the iwalk will be a safe alternative to traditional crutches for you.
